I’ve been researching danse macabre and death-themed imagery on medieval tombs for an upcoming project, and found a few images of human skulls with bat wings attached, often used on the corners of tombs as decorative elements. The remind me of an inverse version of the little angle-winged cherub heads popular in renaissance paintings, which I always found a little creepy. I have framed this piece in a tiny decorative-edged black frame. Please note – there’s no hanging hook on the back of this piece, instead it has a fold out stand so it can sit on any flat surface.
