A while ago I had lots of little wood offcuts in my studio so I decided to make some irregular shaped frames. To fit this tiny one I sketched out a super detailed composition – a skeletal hand with the finger bones turning into twisting thorny rose stems. It’s probably the most complicated piece I’ve attempted yet. I doused this one with lots of dark patinating solution so that the bones, stems and rose petals jump out.
